Volunteers

Our Community House of Hope (OCHH) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is 100% community-funded. We rely on the generosity of the community members for both our financial needs, as well as with working with the guests, projects, administration, and fundraising events.

We need all types of volunteers, but two types of volunteers are currently needed most:

~FRIENDS OF HOPE VOLUNTEERS~

Job Description: A Friend of Hope Volunteer will spend two to four hours a week with a resident at OCHH as a friendly visitor listening, sharing interests, reminiscing, recording oral histories, sitting vigil; supporting residents and their families with social, emotional and spiritual issues and their grief. These volunteers will do NO hands-on physical care. (Live Scan & TB testing required--approximate cost--$80)

~RESIDENT CARE VOLUNTEERS~

These volunteers are required to be RNs, LVNs, or CNAs (with hospice experience). A current active license is not necessary. These volunteers must be physically able to do hands-on care of residents and entails a commitment of 6 months to 1 year.

Job Description: A Resident Care Volunteer will work at least one four-hour shift per week, attend two staff meetings a month (Mondays at 1:00-2:00 PM), help paid caregivers with hands-on care of residents; support residents and families with social, emotional and spiritual needs, and help with grief support issues. They will work well within a team approach and be able to help with communications between medical hospices and the families. Some meal prep may be required as well as good listening and organizational skills. (Live Scan & TB test required).
